During a tack in 25+ knots our Edson radome bracket failed, causing the radome to pivot to port and (fortunately) wedge itself between the front side of the mast and the aft side of the port spreader. The jib was not damaged...not at all. The rivets holding the bracket on the starboard side failed, and the solid aluminum bracket on the port side sheared in half. The sail did not hang up on the radome during the tack. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
We were able to lower the radome to the deck. It was Not damaged and the cables survived, so it only required a new bracket.
