Guilford Yacht Club, Guilford, Connecticut, June 2...
Gordon
Guilford Yacht Club is located on the east bank of the West River, about a mile from Guilford's historic village green. This was the one place on our trip that gave us the most concern as to depth of water; we drew only four feet and might have had some problems had we arrived at low water. The channel is well marked but quite narrow. The club has all the necessary amenities and relativedly new floating piers. The dockmaster had help on hand to "catch" us as we came into the slip (see the entry in this forum for the Brewer Yacht Haven Marina for an explanation of our gear-shifting problems). The distance to the village is quite manageable for walking, and you're mostly in the shade all the way. The only downer was the price, which worked out to $4.00 per foot. It's a nice place, but if you draw much more than four feet you'll have to time your arrival and departure carefully.
