Hmm, I had to replace the entire system with a Ronstan Series 32 track, car, and end controls. I reused the original mounting bolts but added large metal screws to hold the end controls. It fits and works nicely, I've attached a few picture of the finished installation, if you'd like more pictures or installation pictures, send me an email and I'll forward them to you.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. I have a 1989 T372 and had to replace the traveler a few years ago. The middle of the track is bolted to an aluminum plate in the fiberglass companionway cover, and I had to remove that cover in order to cut the steel bolts that had fused with the aluminum (using a sawsall, taking care not to mar the fiberglass). Don't recall whether or not I had to drill out the bolts or whether a vice grip did the trick; it was likely one method for some and the other for the rest.

There are also several bolts from both sides of the track that bolt to the cabin top; you reach them by removing the ceiling panels above you at the foot of the companionway.

Wasn't interested in reusing any of the old cars (bearings were shot), so installed a new Harken system that has been terrific. One feature I particularly liked about the Harken system is that the replacement track has a slot into which you can position steel anchors that hold the new bolts where ever you need them to align with the holes in the aluminum plate.

It's a big job but very rewarding. Good luck.

My traveler needs serious help with worn out bearings and in need of rebedding. I cannot figure out if there are mounting bolts/washers or a metal plate imbedded in the fiberglass or whether the mounting bolts were simply screwed into the fiberglass. Is there a method of accessing the bolts? Anyone able to advise me please? Also, anyone know where I can purchase new bearings for the traveler car?
