34C Core is Spongy
Author Last Post
Regarding the repair, actually it doesn't much matter what the original material was -- you will most likely replace it with Core Mat or similar material rather than the original stock. Lighter, waterproof, as stiff structurally, etc.
Pictures of the repair.
Hi Mark,

My friend Laura's boat has the same issues.  Some of the core has been repaired on the foredeck where the cabintop transitions.  The core was indeed balsa.  We have Pictures and some movies to share of the process if you are interested.

One spot is right where the front of one of the hand rail attaches. There are others, larger. Wondering if anyone knows the filling of the core. Is it balsa? I have not probed around. Wanted to check with y'all before poking holes in the deck. She is on the hard anyway. Boat is new to me but super vintage, like 1968? Thanks in advance
