Tartan 4300 Repaint

We have T4300 hull #9 built in 2009. The paint on the hull is brittle and starting to flake off. Our yard is telling me that Awlgrip only lasts 8 years and then needs to be removed and repainted. This was a bit of a surprise to me and I wonder if other Tartan owners with boats of this vintage are having to repaint.
